Sometimes, your mind is not in the right head space. Understandably, times are tough. There’s a lot going on in the world right now. The pandemic isn’t going away. Climate change is storming forward. Overseas wars and locally unprecedented floods. For some people things will never be the same. Distress lingers everywhere. These things you cannot be in control of.
Thankfully you can do little things every day for yourself. These things you can control. Such as; a morning walk, having a coffee (with or without a friend), being in nature, staying hydrated drinking good quality water, basking in the sunshine (even for five minutes has benefits), taking ten long deep breathes, hugging a loved one, snuggling in bed with a good book, walking your dog, soaking in the bath tub, savouring a glass of wine (or two), connecting with a friend, sharing a meal, cooking a meal (if it is relaxing) and gratitude journaling.
Be consistent. Do the things that make things work better for you. Do them every day or do them every week. Soon they will become a habit, just as familiar as brushing your teeth. Control what you can control. Know that this time will pass. The stress, anxiety, loneliness, feeling overwhelmed, lost, unloved, unhappy will disappear. Start living a better life, today.
